The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland and Ebow, the Digital Agency, won the Digital for Good Award at the prestigious Spider Awards held recently in Dublin. The Spider Awards are the longest running digital awards programme in Ireland and are dedicated to recognising companies and individuals driving digital excellence in every aspect of their ethos.
Shortlisted in the category with the Virtual Record Treasury were Conradh na Gaeilge and Modus IT Ltd.; GCD & Cash for Kids; Irish Heart Foundation and Pluto; NEIC and Together Digital; spunout; and Vodafone Ireland.
The Virtual Record Treasury is a flagship research project led by Trinity College Dublin and the ADAPT Centre which digitally recreates seven centuries of historical records of the Public Record Office of Ireland destroyed by fire at Dublin’s Four Courts at the beginning of the Irish Civil War. The culmination of five years of state-funded research through the Beyond 2022 programme, the project re-imagines and re-creates, through virtual reality, this national treasure and the archival collections that were lost, comprising records of seven centuries of Irish history, genealogy and administration.
Congratulations to the teams on this impressive achievement.
