Trinity College Dublin Recognises ADAPT Campus Companies at Innovation Awards

04 December 2024

At the recent Trinity Innovation Awards, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) celebrated the establishment of six new campus companies, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Three of these spinouts emanated from ADAPT Centre research in the AI space.  The companies, active in sectors such as health and education, join a portfolio of 37 companies that have emerged from TCD over the past seven years, collectively raising over €400 million and creating more than 800 jobs.

Among the newly recognised companies are ADAPT spinouts Tilt, DigiAcademy, and eAltra, each contributing uniquely to their respective fields:

  • Tilt: Originating from the Department of Sociology and the ADAPT Centre, Tilt has developed innovative digital role-play training aimed at enhancing and measuring diversity and inclusion performance within organisations. Co-founded by Professor Anne Holohan and Conor McNally, Tilt plans to expand globally in the coming year following significant engagement with various partners.
  • DigiAcademy: This platform envisions a world where opportunity aligns with talent, regardless of individual abilities. Based on extensive research by Dr Esther Murphy and co-designed with individuals with accessibility needs, DigiAcademy is deploying its inclusive solutions across multiple partners and customers, both in Ireland and internationally.
  • eAltra: Founded by Denis Roche and based on research from ADAPT, eAltra offers a conversational AI platform that facilitates remote pre-clinical patient assessments. This technology supports nurses and alleviates the burden on patients who might otherwise travel long distances for treatments. The company has conducted successful hospital trials and was recently approved as an Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start-Up.

Dr Michelle Olmstead, Trinity’s Chief Innovation & Enterprise Officer, emphasised the university’s role in bridging the gap between research and real-world application, providing support to transform ideas into entities with social and economic impact.

The recognition of these companies underscores ADAPT’s dedication to nurturing an innovation ecosystem that addresses societal challenges through entrepreneurial endeavours.
