The Smart Health Summit 2024 took place at Croke Park on September 10th, featuring a panel discussion on “Transforming Patient Care Through Clinical AI Implementation.” Panellists included ADAPT’s Dr. Sinead Impey, School of Nursing and Midwifery, TCD after Clinical Tutor, Health Informatics, as well as Dr. Peter MacMahon, Prof. Patricia Maguire, and Justin Manjourides, with Ivan Yates facilitating the discussion. Dr. Sinead Impey is also the Clinical Nurse Tutor and Harmonisation Specialist on the Precision ALS project.
During the panel, Dr. Impey highlighted the importance of upskilling healthcare staff in digital health and AI, emphasising the transformative potential of these technologies. She also discussed the Precision ALS project, which combines data from 14 specialist ALS sites across Europe to overcome challenges posed by small patient numbers. Dr. Impey shared insights on how the team addresses data harmonisation issues to create a unified dataset for analysis.
