Oide Creativity, in collaboration with the Algowatch project at the ADAPT Research Centre , recently hosted an in-person elective workshop for teachers, offering insights into AI and algorithmic literacy.
Held Saturday (8th Feb.) at the Drumcondra Education Centre, DCU St Patrick’s Campus, the event provided post-primary teachers with the opportunity to engage with critical topics shaping modern teaching and learning.
Prof Aphra Kerr (Algowatch, ADAPT UCD) led the workshop on artificial intelligence and building awareness for 21st century teaching and learning based on current work by the Algowatch project. It guided participants through an exploration of how algorithms and AI influence online information, including the spread of mis- and disinformation. Teachers engaged with digital resources in English and French designed to improve teacher and student AI literacy and reflected on classroom strategies to promote critical thinking around the use of AI.
By bringing together experts from the Algowatch project and teachers, the event fostered meaningful discussions and equipped teachers with valuable knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving digital landscape.
The Algowatch project is co-funded by the European Union and runs until the end of 2025.
