ADAPT Members Win Awards at 2024 Researcher of the Year Awards

21 January 2025

ADAPT members have been recognised for their outstanding contributions at the 2024 Researcher of the Year Awards, announced last week by Taighde Éireann – Research Ireland.

Dr. Esther Murphy, from the School of Engineering in Trinity College, was highly commended in the Impact Award category. She was recognised for her work improving education and employment pathways for people living with intellectual disabilities (ID). Her inclusive research and the Digi-ID EU programme, which secured €3 million in funding and established a partnership with Microsoft, led to the founding of DigiAcademy Technology. This new Trinity spinout aims to transform education and employment opportunities through accessible digital skills and work-ready training co-designed by people with ID and key stakeholders.

Dr. John Judge, former Head of Research Development at ADAPT, received the Research Ally Award for his exceptional contributions to supporting the research community and promoting a culture of equality, inclusivity, and respect.

Kapal Dev from Munster Technological University and James Hadley from Trinity College Dublin were also recognised as Research Allies in the awards.
