A Japanese delegation, led by Professor Osamu Sudo from the Faculty of Global Information at Chuo University, visited ADAPT at Trinity College Dublin this week as part of the 18th Japan-European AI/Smart City Ecosystem Fact-Finding Tour. The delegation, comprising representatives from leading companies such as NEC Corporation, Hitachi Systems Ltd, and RKKCS Co. Ltd, is exploring the latest trends in AI and smart city developments.
The visit, which was hosted by Executive Director at ADAPT, Declan McKibben, included presentations and discussions focused on promoting open innovation, smart cities, and ethical AI trends.
The delegation were introduced to ADAPT’s smart city research with presentations from experts such as Dr Jack Lehane on SmartD8 and Dr Mani Dhingra on Digital Twins for Smart Cities discussing their groundbreaking collaborations with Dublin City Council under the leadership of ADAPT Principal Investigator, Prof. Aphra Kerr and Smart Cities Programme Manager Jamie Cudden. The event also featured a discussion on AI trust, safety and regulation and AI ethical trends in Europe, led by ADAPT Principal Investigator, Professor Dave Lewis. This visit highlights the growing collaboration between Japan and Europe in the realms of AI and smart city innovations, paving the way for future partnerships.
