Educators across Galway and surrounding areas are invited to attend a transformative workshop designed to equip post-primary educators with the tools and knowledge to confidently navigate the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.
Organised by ADAPT, the Research Ireland Centre for AI-Driven Digital Content Technology, and Dublin City University (DCU), with support from Google, the AI Literacy in the Classroom initiative builds on the success of its inaugural workshop in Dublin last November. The second half-day in-person session is scheduled for January 25th, 2025, at the Galway Education Centre.
This interactive workshop aims to:
Led by ADAPT and DCU experts Dr. Eileen Culloty, Dr. Michal Wieczorek, and Dr. Eamon Costello, participants will gain invaluable insights into AI’s potential to transform education. Educators will leave with a stronger grasp of how to guide students in the safe, ethical, and effective use of AI tools while fostering critical thinking and responsible digital citizenship.
As part of the broader initiative, the workshop complements a free 90-minute online course available to teachers at adaptcentre.ie/ai-literacy-in-the-classroom. This course includes modules on AI Literacy and AI Ethics, allowing for flexible, self-paced learning that fits into educators’ busy schedules.
Future workshops are also planned for Cork (March 1st, 2025) and Sligo (March 22nd, 2025), ensuring accessibility for teachers nationwide.
