ADAPT’s The VIGILANT Project Features at GLOBSEC Forum 2024 Bringing Advanced Tools for Combatting Disinformation

14 November 2024

The annual GLOBSEC Forum, held in Prague last month, attracted over 2,300 global leaders, including heads of state, ministers, and influential figures in international security and policy. A side session at the Forum highlighted ADAPT’s the VIGILANT project—a critical initiative for strengthening the fight against disinformation across Europe.

VIGILANT unites 17 European partners, including academia, industry, government research centres, and police authorities, to develop advanced tools that aid in detecting and analysing disinformation linked to criminal activity from major online platforms. The project is designed to empower Ministries of the Interior and other authorities with cutting-edge technology that can identify and assess text, image, and video disinformation in multiple languages.

By presenting VIGILANT at GLOBSEC, the project had the opportunity to showcase this innovative technology directly to key decision-makers, advancing the project’s mission to protect societal cohesion and democratic integrity in an increasingly digital world.

This year’s GLOBSEC Forum also featured President Ursula von der Leyen, who received the prestigious Czech and Slovak Transatlantic Award for her role in strengthening Transatlantic relations. The event hosted 46 panels, ten thematic debates, 40 sessions, and over 200 bilateral meetings, with nearly 250 journalists from 40 countries in attendance.
