ADAPT’s Delaram Golpayegani Joins Women in ICT Standardisation Webinar

Last week, the Women in ICT Standardisation Webinar 2025 featured key experts shaping the future of technology standards. Delaram Golpayegani, from the ADAPT Centre at Trinity College Dublin and the National Standards Authority of Ireland, shared her expertise on participating in development of AI standards at European and international levels, contributing to the W3C Data Privacy Vocabularies and shaping the EU AI Office’s Code of Practice for General-Purpose AI.

The panel, moderated by Maria Giuffrida from Trust-IT Services, explored the challenges and opportunities faced by women in contributing to standards. 11 standardisation experts shared their personal achievements, discussed the obstacles they have faced, and highlighted the existing initiatives that promote women’s participation in development of ICT standards. The webinar concluded with the panellists’ recommendations in regard to improving gender parity in ICT standardisation.

The event highlighted the critical importance of  women’s contributions in shaping the future of ICT standardisation, with Golpayegani sharing her experience in being involved in AI standardisation activities as an early-stage researcher.
