A recent special edition of the top-quartile Journal of Specialised Translation was published on the 30th of January on the topic of translation automation and sustainability. The journal was co-edited by ADAPT researchers Sheila Castilho, Federico Gaspari, Joss Moorkens, and Maja Popovic as well as Antonio Toral from the University of Groningen.
Within the journal, readers can find nine insightful articles accompanied by five book reviews. Additionally, the issue features a thought-provoking video roundtable discussion with the editors. In both the roundtable and an editorial position paper, the editors propose a modified version of Elkington’s ‘triple bottom line’, adapting it to People, Planet, and Performance as a framework for evaluating translation automation, assigning equal significance to each.
