Last May, the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge welcomed ADAPT PhD researcher Sheresh Zahoor (Munster Technological University) for an enlightening presentation on non-communicable diseases. The talk, titled “Unveiling Causal Drivers of Non-Communicable Diseases with Interpretable Models,” explored the crucial factors contributing to these diseases using interpretable machine learning models.
Zahoor shared in-depth methodologies, emphasising the importance of causal inference in public health. She also highlighted the practical implications of these findings for improving disease prevention and management strategies. The presentation concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, prompting engaging discussions and sparking new ideas for future research in this critical field. The event marked a notable contribution to ongoing efforts in understanding and combating non-communicable diseases.
