As 2018 draws closer, one of the most exciting and crucial competitive differentiators in industry is Artificial Intelligence. The future of AI was on display in Croke Park today at AI: Accelerating Impact. Hosted by the Science Foundation Ireland funded ADAPT Centre, the half-day seminar marked 10 years for digital content expertise from the centre, and brought together world-leading researchers and industry executives to discuss this critical field from a variety of wide-ranging perspectives.
AI is being implemented in most industries by leading organisations spanning finance, law, healthcare, education, telecommunications and many more. Digital content technologies are changing the rules of the game in the global business world.
Speaking at AI: Accelerating Impact, ADAPT Centre Director, Professor Vincent Wade, said, “The ADAPT Centre’s expertise and innovative research is allowing businesses to gain a competitive advantage through advanced digital content and media technologies. Artificial Intelligence is playing an ever-increasing role in our lives. We have seen AI emerge in almost all business sectors including, FinTech, eHealth and Autonomous Living. ADAPT’s solutions are enabling organisations to explore how AI can work for them by improving customer experiences, enhancing operational processes and extracting business intelligence to make incisive commercial decisions and access new market opportunities.”
The event, which saw over 300 guests attend, gave delegates the opportunity to interact with a range of state of the art demonstrations that span the spectrum of new, intelligent technologies from machine learning to sentiment analysis, augmented reality to digital media systems and much more.
Supported by the Irish government through Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) to the amount of €24 million, the ADAPT Centre is leveraged with an additional €26 million from industry partners. The ADAPT Centre already works with a range of respected industry partners including Microsoft, PayPal, Huawei, eir, Ordnance Survey Ireland, Brite:Bill and Deutsche Bank. The Centre is seeking opportunities to work with other industry partners in order to further diversify and strengthen its research, and identify new uses for the technologies that are being developed.
