About
Media Literacy is an essential skill when it comes to recognising the influence of the media and messages we consume as we browse online. At our next ADAPT coffee morning, we will be joined by
Dr Ricardo Castellini da Silva
who will talk about his experience as a media literacy educator in Ireland, and show some examples of his work with students, teachers and the general public and discussing the opportunities and challenges in this area. There will be time for Q&A at the end.

Speaker:
Dr Ricardo Castellini da Silva is a Media Literacy Educator and the Media Literacy Coordinator for the
European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) Hub in Ireland
. He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dublin City University working with both the Institute of
Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo)
and the
National Anti-Bullying Centre (ABC)
at DCU. Ricardo operates an educational consultancy service developing workshops, webinars and learning resources to promote media literacy across Ireland. Since 2015 he has been teaching on the Professional Master of Education programme at Trinity College Dublin, and in 2022 he became a member of the
Media Literacy Ireland
Steering Group.
