Last month, the Life Sciences Awards 2024 celebrated the outstanding contributions of innovators from Ireland’s medtech sector. Among them was ADAPT Academic, Associate Professor at the School of Medicine and founder of Vertigenius, Dr Dara Meldrum, who won the Women in Life Sciences award. Dr. Meldrum was recognised for her development of the Vertigenius head sensor, a groundbreaking medical device aiding patients with vertigo, imbalance, and dizziness.
The judges lauded Dr. Meldrum for her exemplary academic and professional achievements. In particular, they highlighted her leadership in using technology to enhance rehabilitation outcomes for vestibular patients, underscoring her positive impact and potential to inspire other women in science. Dr. Meldrum’s recognition at the Life Science Industry Awards highlights the importance of continued investment in medtech and the vital role of women in driving scientific progress.
