Non-standard sample size determination using simulation methods, towards statistical planning, is an area he has recently developed an interest in. He served as an associate editor for the international peer review journal Statistics and Computing from 2015-2021. He is currently director of the Mathematics with Statistics undergraduate programme at TCD.
