Dr Iker Erdocia is Assistant Professor and Director of Research in the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies. His research focuses on the intersection of language, politics, and policy, with a particular emphasis on how technology mediates these areas. Iker is currently involved in the €3 million Horizon Europe research project FOSTERLANG ‘Fostering Linguistic Capital: A roadmap for reversing the diversity crisis and activating societal benefits in Europe’. He is PI for the Work Package “Counteracting digital exclusion: IT tools and resources for lesser used languages”. He was actively involved in the 2020-2024 COST-Action Language in the Human-Machine Era. Iker’s research projects have been externally funded by the Irish Research Council and Royal Irish Academy/British Academy.
