Dr. Ger Hickey is the Head of Research Strategy and Integration at the ADAPT Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin. With 20 years of experience leading AI and ICT research programmes and initiatives across academia and industry Ger has developed a keen interest and comprehensive understanding of the field. His career has spanned a diverse array of roles where he successfully led cross-functional teams, managed strategic partnerships, and drove innovative solutions. Ger has cultivated a strong network within the technology sector, collaborating with prominent industry partners and academic institutions. This unique blend of expertise and experience has equipped him with a broad perspective on the evolving landscape of AI research, enabling him to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive impactful research outcomes. In his current role, Ger manages relationships with key stakeholders and aligns ADAPT’s research programme and operational activities with the Centre’s strategic goals. Ger holds a Ph.D. in Physics and Electronic Engineering from the University of Limerick, an MSc in Software Development from TU Dublin, and a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from SETU Waterford. Ger brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the research ecosystem, and a passion for promoting innovation in AI research
