The first Machine Learning Meet-Up of 2025 took place Monday, 27th January, at the Global Room in Trinity College Dublin. Sponsored by ReliaQuest, a leader in AI-driven cybersecurity solutions, the event brought together industry professionals, researchers, and AI enthusiasts for an evening of insightful discussions and networking.
Clare Conran, Senior Project Manager at ReliaQuest and former ADAPT member, delivered an engaging talk on “AI Trends and Applications in Cybersecurity“. She highlighted how ReliaQuest is leveraging cutting-edge generative AI tools alongside traditional data orchestration techniques, such as knowledge graphs, embeddings, and clustering, to tackle some of the most complex challenges in cybersecurity.
Louise McCormack, an award-winning PhD researcher at the ADAPT Centre, University of Galway, presented “Equipping Your AI Council for the AI Act Era“. She broke down the immediate priorities for AI governance under the new AI Act, offering actionable steps for organisations to assess compliance, mitigate risks, and integrate trustworthy AI principles into their frameworks.
The event wrapped up with lively discussions over pizza and drinks allowing attendees to exchange ideas and discuss the talks with colleagues in the AI and data science community. The Machine Learning Meetups take place on the last Monday of the month and are open to all professionals and students interested in Machine Learning in any of its forms.
