Professor Vincent Wade Addresses Education & AI at Trinity’s Entrance Exhibitioner Events

29 January 2025

Last week, Professor Vincent Wade, ADAPT co-founder and former Chair of Computer Science at Trinity College Dublin, delivered talks on Education and Artificial Intelligence to the Principals’ Forum as part of Trinity’s Entrance Exhibitioner events.

Over three evenings, Professor Wade engaged with school principles to explore the transformative potential of AI in education, highlighting how emerging technologies such as generative AI are reshaping learning environments. His talk focused on the opportunities AI presents for personalised learning, improved student engagement, and innovative approaches to assessment, while addressing critical challenges such as ethical considerations and the need for responsible AI use in education.

The Principals’ Forum was part of Trinity’s annual Entrance Exhibitioner Awards ceremonies, which celebrate academic excellence. This year, 593 first-year students from across Ireland and overseas received awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements. The awards, granted to students with the highest entry points from their respective schools, reflect Trinity’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and attracting top talent.

The awardees represent 452 schools from all 30 counties on the island of Ireland and 38 countries worldwide, with former recipients including notable figures such as former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. The ceremonies were held in Trinity’s historic campus, where students and their school principals were honoured.

Professor Wade’s talk added a new dimension to the events, sparking conversations about how AI can shape the future of education and empowering schools to prepare students for a rapidly evolving world.
