Dublin City University’s (DCU) two Master’s programmes in Translation have been re-awarded the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) quality label. This recognition, led by Programme Chair Dr Sheila Castilho, confirms the programmes’ alignment with the European Commission’s standards for translator training.
The EMT label, managed by the European Commission, identifies postgraduate programmes that provide advanced training in translation to meet the requirements of the language services industry. The accreditation highlights the academic and professional excellence of DCU’s translation education.
In addition to this achievement, DCU has also secured continued representation on the EMT Network Board. ADAPT academic Dr Joss Moorkens was re-elected to serve on the board for the 2024–2029 term, working with colleagues across Europe to support the EMT Network’s goals. The board plays a key role in promoting collaboration and advancing the quality of translation education within the network.
The Directorate-General for Translation at the European Commission supports the EMT Network. Special thanks were extended to Christos Ellinides, Jorgen Gren, Nikola Kunte, Anna Kokkinidou, Cathy Polotto, and others for their collaboration. The network works closely with the Language Industry Platform (LIND) to enhance translator training and foster collaboration among language industry professionals.
