Dympna O’Sullivan, an academic from ADAPT and TU Dublin, was recently invited to the European Network for Gender Balance in Informatics (EUGAIN) training school held from September 4th to 6th in Airolo, Switzerland. This event will focus on improving gender balance in Informatics (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computing, ICT) across Europe.
Women are significantly underrepresented in Informatics at all levels and increasing female representation in the field is a substantial challenge for academics, policymakers, and society. The primary aim of the COST Action, which organises the EUGAIN training school, is to improve gender balance in Informatics by creating and strengthening a multicultural European network of academics leading these efforts in their respective countries, institutions, and research communities. This initiative seeks to build on the collective knowledge, experiences, struggles, successes, and failures of these academics, facilitating the sharing and transfer of effective strategies to other institutions and countries.
By participating in the EUGAIN training school, Dympna O’Sullivan joins a dedicated group of professionals committed to fostering gender balance in Informatics, contributing to a broader understanding of what works and how to implement these strategies effectively across Europe.
