ADAPT PhD student, Shubhanker Banerjee (University of Galway) was recently awarded the Best Student Paper award for a new paper at the Language, Data and Knowledge (LDK2023) conference this year. This year’s conference was held in Vienna from the 12th to the 15th of September. The paper was titled “MG2P: An Empirical Study Of Multilingual Training for Manx G2P”.
This work was supervised by Shubhanker’s supervisors Dr. John McCrae (University of Galway) and Dr. Bharathi Raja Chakravarthi (University of Galway). Their work in this paper shows that for multilingual grapheme-to-phoneme conversion in low resourced scenarios, inclusion of data from orthographically related languages leads to significant improvement in performance.
The paper, once available online, will be accessible here.
