Dr. Bruno Andrade is a faculty member at Munster Technological University, with a background in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and Data Science, spanning over 12 years of research and development experience. As an academic collaborator at ADAPT and a founding member of the esteemed Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence (HAI) research group at MTU, he plays a pivotal role in advancing scientific knowledge.
Dr. Andrade’s educational achievements include an undergraduate degree in Biotechnology, as well as a Master’s and PhD in Computational Biology. Before becoming a permanent faculty member at MTU in 2022, he held prestigious positions as a FAPESP-funded Postdoctoral researcher for 2 years (2018-2020) and a MSCA-funded Postdoctoral researcher at MTU for 2 years (2020-2022). During these appointments, he conducted cutting-edge research, delving into the relationship between beef cattle of different breeds and their performance phenotypes.
His primary research interests revolve around Computational Biology, Microbiome, Machine and Deep learning, and Language models applied to Biology. Of particular interest is his exploration of the connection between microbes and their host/environment. This investigation aims to identify potential biomarkers that could shed light on differences in immune responses to infections in humans and performance phenotypes in livestock, with significant biotechnological implications.
