Professor Bede is a consultant neurologist specialised in neuromuscular disorders and neurodegenerative conditions. He is the head of the Computational Neuroimaging Group in Trinity College Dublin. His research focuses on biomarker development, the characterisation of phenotype-specific imaging signatures, genotype-associated brain changes and propagation patterns using computational neuroimaging techniques. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters on neurodegenerative conditions, motor neuron disease, neuroimaging methods, and frontotemporal lobar degeneration. He is the associate editor of ‘Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Dementia’, the patron of the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association (IMNDA), member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the steering committee of the NiSALS, and the UK MND Association (MNDA) Research Advisory Panel.
