European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event, which displays the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives in fun, inspiring ways.
This year, the event will take place in 29 countries on Friday 24 September 2021.
European Researchers’ Night aims to:
– bring research and researchers closer to the public
– promote excellent research projects across Europe and beyond
– increase the interest of young people in science and research careers
– showcase the impact of researchers’ work on people’s daily lives
As part of the event, the ADAPT Centre will have a number of installations, workshops and events:
For primary schools
The Code of Kells is an online workshop for children that love solving puzzles! Part of the Happy Maths project. This activity is best suited to primary school children from 10 to 12 years old.
For secondary school students
Dr Data, a game where secondary school students can learn the importance of data privacy. Everyone is welcome to play but this activity is aimed at secondary school students. It can be played on smartphones and tablets.
MILLA is a multimodal, interactive, language learning agent. She’s not exactly a chatbot, she’s a spoken dialog system – think chatbot’s older smarter sister. The activity is very suitable for Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students taking Modern Foreign Languages, and for migrants who want to improve their English.
For adults
Debunked, a workshop where you learn to identify misleading information (21 Sept)
Join our Citizens Think-In, a public discussion to consider whether the convenience of having a smart home outweighs privacy concerns (23 Sept)
